Page 05 Author's Notes: Rory is now cold and wet, and this lighthouse is creepy (not to mention bigger on the inside). To make matters worse, she's hearing voices (and still being watched). Hmm ... that statue looks familiar too ... This may be my favorite page so far.

Infinite Spiral: Prologue: Aurora:
Rory (Aurora) Perkins is just a normal girl spending the waning days of summer with her grandparents in the country. When she sets out to catch fireflies one evening, little does she know her curiosity will cause her to leave her own world behind forever, journeying into the Infinite Spiral of realities.

Got to love the Tardis effect ... works in cartoon pockets too ... well and Christmas Specials. Glad you like this page. I really felt like I started getting a feel for the digital tools I was using on this one.

I like the way you handled the rocks. Your style reminds me a bit of Kazu Kibuishi's work The Amulet. (this is a big compliment on my part as I think his artwork is :eyepopping: great)

Which means you are automatically watched!

Thank you kindly! I will have to look into that--I'm always learning from the work of other artists (dA is great for that too!). I hope you continue to enjoy it.

Welcome! And I agree. DA is great and I am always learning too. DA and Youtube are great resources to improve your art. :D

If you're interested, here's a link to the Scholastic page for the Amulet. (it is supposedly a kids book, but, I love checking it out from the library just to ogle the artwork LOL) [link]

Also is the Jingle Jangle noise coming from her or the lighthouse?

Lighthouse--it is a callback to the windchimes on the first page. The sound is a hint at odd things, seeing as I don't have a soundtrack.

Ahaha, I knew the Weeping Angels would come up! This guy was in a dream back in 2010 before I even watched a single episode of Doctor Who. How is that for weird? He was also bald in the dream, and actually had a big mallet. I decided the mallet was a wee bit threatening ...

Ah OK I see. That makes sense.

Wow! That's kinda freaky that you dremt him up before seeing a DW episode, cuz imediatly I saw the hand near Rory and then there's a statue standing near her with angel wings, it just screamed weeping Angel. also good thing you didn't give him a hammer, that would have been really threatening and I would have sent one of my Ocs to go and save rory from him. :D

Yeah, my Gram has all these windchimes and they go crazy. You can hear them clear down by the cornfields behind the barn. By the time you get there they are eerie, but it is kind of like they lead you home ... so many things to play with in regards to the "Jingle, jangle".

Ah, but if you save Rory the story would just end. She has to meet James and Christian (they are her "companions", bwahaha, I'm a goober). ;) She has places to go, people to meet, worlds to discover. :D It is ridiculous how much that dream had in common with "Blink" (haven't seen any Matt Smith's of course).

It is also why the lighthouse is cave like. It is also how I came up with the name Abdal. The Angel/Statue was saying Abdal or Abadiel, so I totally looked it up ... and then it was like, ooooh! That is handy. :) I don't know where my brain gets this stuff, but I'm not complaining. :D

Oooh cool. I have cows behind my backyard. they're not ours but it's kinda cool having em back there cuz sometimes the come up to the fence and you can pet them! On some rare occasions they've come into our yard too.

True, but you know I wouldn't want her to die or anything by an angel statue with a mallet, but seems like you've got it all undercontrol, my OCs will stand down....for now ;) That is wierd it sounds like you had a dream about the episode, freaky.

So this whole thing is based off a dream? THAT'S BRILLIANT!!! I get wierd dreams like floating on a picnic table with the fourth doctor( before I knew who he was) while Gallifrey flooded, and other bezare things like that, so your dreams are cooler, by far.

The intro is based off two different dreams, (though a ton was cut out of one). The first one was a weird dream in a cornfield where I got pulled over, and then was suddenly in a house. I somewhere along the way figured out I had "died" and had been chosen, but wasn't supposed to know about it. I just borrowed the cornfield and chosen part, merged it with the other dream.

The story is actually as a whole based on the world I made up with my sister as a kid (I tell myself it is a pseudo-autobiography, haha). More than a few of the characters that come into the story next I made up when I was 12 or so, and kept promising to write a novel about it.

And, HAH, cows. I had cows on two sides of my house growing up, so I know what you are talking about.

Ooo, I had a weird fourth Doctor dream too. We were on a boat. I was trying to control a sail and he was up above and the sail whapped him in the face before I got it tied down (he wanted to do it himself, hah!). It was kind of hilarious. That same night I'd had a 10th Doctor dream that involved Daleks ... obviously that wasn't nearly as fun. *giggles*

Huh cool. Combining dreams work too, dreams can often help with story ideas and in your case settings as well as storylines and characters. All my characters come from TV shows, except for my companions.

You made up the whole place! Brilliant. I'd write or do something with my OCs, but I don't think people would read them because they're storylines are almost completely mixed in with the show I created them for, well you know except for four of them and even then they have two different stories. So Congrates that you have some truly unique characters and ideas.

Cows are cool :D

Even your weird fourth Doctor dream makes more sense than mine! XD
I've had another with the third doctor and it was one of the few cool dreams that I've had and then as it was getting to the part where we find out who the aliens were and what they were doing, my bloody alarm went off T_T

Oh, believe me I have had to strip out TV show after TV Show from my childhood. There was some Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, Star Wars, and more absolutely embedded in the original world. If I were a kid now, Doctor Who would be all over it. It has taken me this long to pull those out and and work in new mythology to replace it!! James, Christian, and Allie were all my OC ACME Agents first! At one point James was Carmen's son (ahahahaha, that was goofy). Now I plan to hide subtle Easter Eggs to nod off to the shows that gave this place life in the first place. :) It is fun.

I hate when my alarm goes off during good dreams.
